The foot pad was a little hard to follow in places as there has been so much rain and corresponding growth. When the path hit the fire-trail, I was a little confused as to which direction to turn. The pointer on the GPS said the road was sort of crap, I needed to be going South yet the road appeared to be heading North East. I wondered whether just to my right , over the little hill, there was a junction of fire-trails? Couldn't be bothered climbing the gate so followed the road in the wrong direction. After a very steep climb, sure enough, the road did a big hook and headed off to the South. Absolutely gorgeous country looking very fresh.
My mind was in a zillion places as I walked. On many occassions, I was startled by kangeroos jumping off at the last moment. Lots of little joeys as well. Eventually came to Brandy Flat with the hut looking serene across the other side. Took some photos, headed off into the scrub to find the nearby cache. Sat down on the verandah and enjoyed the serenity. There was another cache down the Caloola Farm track, a few k as the crow flies and all down hill. I started off down but the clouds were looking very threatening and whilst I had my wet weather gear, I didn't have a change of gear in the car and I was just not in the mood for a drenching.
Good thing too, as when I got to the car, the clouds began to unleash. All up, including sitting on the bench and admiring the view, a 3' 10" jaunt of 11.2k . Loved it !
