This will be a regular riding route but not on weekends when all the peg scrapers have a go. Fantastic roads, nice views but one must stay alert for all the skippies! I wasn't expecting it but there was a bit of drizzle along the way. Not to worry, windscreen in highest position, heated grips set to automatic, smile set to widest !

Chores done - first day of not working since I got the bike so a little blast was in order. Negotiated the insignificant traffic of Fyshwick and Quangers and blasted up the Kings Highway. The 650 cc twin has no trouble in getting to and exceeding the speed limit. There was a bit of traffic as it is a long weekend in Canberra and a few were making an early getaway to the coast.
Downtown Bungendore was bustling and I though about getting a coffee. Instead, I rode to the Railway station and timed it perfectly for the arrival of the Canberra bound train. AND even more surprisingly, people actually got off the train. Off then along Bungendore Rd followed by Macs Reef Rd and then a blast down the freeway to the Majura Parkway. Time for my first fuel stop and wow, I haven't seen the queue ever so long for fuel at Costco. Getting about 4.00 l /100k it would appear. Also worked out how to pipe Google Map Directions verbally into my helmet so no need for a GPS. Also tried the music but that will only be for highway travel in future. Worked well. |
