Mt Stromlo or bust

Must keep up with this.  At roll call this morning, I noticed a few too many chins yelled "present" during proceedings.  Right!  I'll have you (s).  Better walk up a mountain to keep them in check.  A quick check of maps showed that Mt Stromlo had a few geocaches in need of my presence.  Parked down at Cotter Rd, after a crisp night, decided I only needed 2 layers up top as there was no wind but  also thought my legs might appreciate the protection of gaiters.  Was a lovely stroll, met an old codge who I think really wanted me to walk with him but I was aon secret cachers business.  Headed up, found my 3 caches, admired the views, and whilst I was trying to spot a different way down the mountain, met one of my fellow COMCAR drivers who is a keen road cyclist and had ridden up the Mt.  After a shortish 30 minute chat (he is a morning driver so I don't see him during my shifts), I headed off into the distance.  Had to do a bit of cross country to join up with the fire trails which are safer than the MBO routes (for walkers).  Tis a lovely hill and it does have great views of the newish Molonglo town centre plus great westerly views of the Brindabellas. A 7.4 km stroll all up!
